Cellular Health

cells-dr-rathCellular Health

Cellular Health, a scientific concept introduced by Dr. Matthias Rath, defines the basis of our health. Health is determined by the function of the millions of cells that build, support and renew our body, i.e., at the cellular level, not at the level of its organs.

Although cells can differ in appearance and play various specialized functions in our body, all of them require vitamins, minerals, essential amino acids, and other micronutrients as co-factors of a multitude of metabolic processes taking place in every cell. These micronutrients are needed in small amounts, however their presence in our body’s cells is essential for converting food into biological energy, for building cellular structures and supporting all vital functions.  Many of these essential nutrients are not produced in our body, such as Vitamin C, the amino acid lysine, as well as plant components such as polyphenols, bioflavonoids and others. In addition, even though our body can produce certain vitamins and amino acids, such as proline, the quantities produced are usually not enough to maintain optimum health. Therefore, it is critical that all these nutrients are provided in sufficient amounts in our diet.
