Healthy Cell Function

All the cells in the body and organs regenerate, function and die in an orderly fashion. Although, the formation of abnormal cells in the human body is not unusual and happens all the time, it is normally kept under control by the body’s own defense mechanisms. However, if abnormal cells elude these control mechanisms they may multiply rapidly and with the help of collagen digesting enzymes, spread throughout the body. At all metabolic stages, from selective cellular degeneration to the spread of these abnormal cells in the body, vitamins and other nutrients undertake an important protective function. They support functioning of the healthy cells; in addition, they can block collagen-digesting enzymes and promote healthy structure and function of connective tissue essential in preventing uncontrolled spreading of cells in the tissue.  Synergistic action of specific essential nutrients in healthy cell growth has been supported by a variety of research data.

The Dr. Rath EpiQuercican Formula contains micronutrients that play an important role in supporting healthy cell growth. It contains among others different forms of vitamin C, plant polyphenols (quercetin, green tea extract), Lysine and Proline and a natural blend of collagen derived polypeptides which help in optimizing connective tissue production assuring its strength and integrity. Other micronutrients in this synergy support healthy cell metabolism and form a natural protection against damage.*

  • Key Synergy Nutrients:

Epigallocatechin Gallate (EGCG): A green tea extract with antioxidant and anticarcinogenic properties. Research by the Dr. Rath Research Institute has shown that EGCG‘s action can be enhanced by synergy with other nutrients in the inhibition of the enzymes that degrade connective tissue and other beneficial functions.

Vitamin C: Plays a critical role in the production of collagen and ensures its proper structure. Vitamin C is essential for strong connective tissue, and is also the most important antioxidant that neutralizes free radicals and protects cells from free radical damage. It participates in numerous biochemical reactions that generate cellular energy and acts synergistically with lysine, proline and other nutrients.

Lysine: Lysine is an essential amino acid, which signifies that it must be obtained from the diet and is an important building block of collagen fibers. Lysine also helps in collective tissue stabilization.

L-Proline: This amino acid is also a building block of collagen. L-Proline is needed to strengthen the body’s connective tissue and control its enzymatic degradation. It is produced in the body, but its levels may not meet the body’s requirements.
